Mini Facelift
Read about Dr. Corrado's innovative Double "C" Lift
Patients who seek consultation for facelift are concerned about the aging of the lower face. These features include sagging cheeks, jowls, and deepened facial folds and wrinkles, excess neck fat and skin.
Have you looked in mirror and saw jowls or sagging of the neck skin which wasn’t there a year or two ago? Is your busy schedule unable to accommodate the downtime and recovery of traditional facial rejuvenation surgeries? Are you someone who is just looking for a more refreshed facial appearance? If you have answered “yes” to the above then perhaps a “Double C Lift”, Dr. Corrado’s version of the Mini Facelift is right for you. Many names have been given to the Mini Facelift procedure including “the lunchtime lift”, “the mini lift”, the “s-lift”, and many others. A Mini Facelift refers to a procedure that corrects the jowls and neck in individuals that do not display significant effects of aging in these areas. The procedure will provide the patient with a more refined jaw line, while also contouring the neck to a smoother and slender appearance. The procedure generally enhances these facial areas with less risk and less stress than a standard facelift. Recovery time is also reduced, allowing those with busy schedules to heal in less time compared to the traditional facelift. Additionally, the cost of the Mini Facelift is less than the traditional facelift making it an attractive option for those looking to reduce minor sagging around the cheeks, jaw line, and neck. Another benefit to a Mini Facelift is that it can be performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation, as opposed to traditional general anesthesia.
Who Is a Candidate?
A Mini Facelift is appropriate for patients who are just beginning to experience the first signs of facial aging but do not want to wait to undergo more aggressive facial surgery. The age groups vary depending on the degree of aging, but most patients are usually in their forties or fifties. Patients usually seek correction of minor sagging or drooping around the cheeks, jowls, and neck area. For those with more extensive signs of aging, a traditional facelift is a better option. A consultation with Dr. Corrado will help to provide you with the best solution to combat aging.
What Is the Mini Facelift?
Mini Facelift procedures are relatively new surgical techniques used to help combat the initial signs of facial aging. The procedure can be performed in less time and involves a shorter recovery period than traditional facelift surgery. The procedure will provide the patient with a more refined jaw line, while also contouring the neck to a smoother and slender appearance. Using small, well hidden incisions Dr. Corrado will seek to “turn back the clock” by improving the most visible signs of aging. The sagging areas of the face and neck are lifted to more youthful positions, while excess facial tissue is removed to achieve optimal results. Small sutures are then used to close all incisions. The patient will go home the same day of surgery, and return to the office in the morning for a check up. Dr. Corrado’s Mini Facelift will provide significant improvements in the face and neck making you look and feel more youthful, confident and fresh.
In an effort to restore facial beauty, other facial procedures may be performed at the same time as the Mini Facelift. These may include Blepharoplasty (Eye Tuck), Facial Fat Grafting, Chemical Peel, or Laser Resurfacing.
Mini Facelift Procedure Facts
Surgical Goals: |
To correct the early signs of facial aging including minor sagging of the cheeks, jowling, and minor excess neck fat and skin. |
The Procedure: |
The procedure is performed through carefully placed incisions, allowing the incisions to be well camouflaged. Sagging deep facial structures and skin are tightened. Sagging neck skin and fat are contoured allowing for a more youthful appearance. |
Anesthesia: |
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with some mild sedation. General Anesthesia is also available at the request of the patient. |
Length of Time: |
The procedure lasts between 1-2 hours depending on the patient’s rejuvenation needs. Procedures such as Blepharoplasty (Eye Tuck), Chemical Peel, Laser Skin Resurfacing, or Facial Fat Grafting may be added to complement the patient’s lift. |
After the Procedure: |
All patients are sent home the night after surgery, and are given a set of postoperative instructions to follow. The patient will follow up the next day for a postoperative check, and again on the seventh postoperative day for removal of stitches. |
Recovery: |
Most patients can return to work in 5-7 days, although individual recovery periods vary from patient to patient. Patients are asked to refrain from physical exertion for a period of two weeks. Swelling and bruising usually resolve by 1-2 weeks. An elastic compression garment may be worn around the lower face and neck for approximately one week. Stiffness in the neck and some soreness are common. Although a narcotic pain medication is prescribed, many patients report only using it for the first 24 hours, after which Tylenol or no pain medications are needed. (It should be noted that individual recovery time and pain thresholds may vary depending on the patient). |
