The Mini C Lift Logo

Have you looked in the mirror and seen jowls or sagging of the neck skin, which wasn’t there a year or two ago? Do you reside in the New Jersey or Philadelphia area, and is your busy schedule unable to accommodate the downtime and recovery of traditional facial rejuvenation surgeries? Are you someone who is just looking for a more refreshed facial appearance?

If you have answered “yes” to the above, then perhaps Dr. Corrado’s Mini facelift in Philadelphia, is right for you. This state-of-the-art procedure is known as the Mini C-LiftSM - please read below to learn more about this groundbreaking procedure.

What Is a Mini Facelift?

Mini Facelift procedures are relatively new surgical techniques used to help combat the initial signs of aging. It can be performed in less time and involves a shorter recovery period than traditional facelift surgery. Using small, well-hidden incisions, your doctor will seek to “turn back the clock” by improving the most visible signs of aging.

The sagging areas of the face and neck are lifted to more youthful positions, while excess facial tissue is removed to achieve optimal results. Small sutures are then used to close all incisions. The patient will go home the same day of surgery and return to the medical office in the morning for a checkup. The Mini Facelift will provide significant improvements in the face and neck, making you look and feel more confident and fresh.

In an effort to restore facial beauty, other procedures may be performed at the same time as the Mini Facelift. These may include Blepharoplasty (Eye Tuck), Facial Fat Grafting, Chemical Peel, or Laser Resurfacing.

Who is a candidate for a mini facelift?

A Mini Facelift is appropriate for patients who are just beginning to experience the first signs of aging but do not want to wait to undergo more aggressive facial surgery. The age groups vary depending on the degree of aging, but most patients are usually in their forties or fifties. Patients usually seek correction of minor sagging or drooping around the cheeks, jowls, and neck area. For those with more extensive signs of aging, a traditional facelift is a better option.

What makes a mini facelift different from a full facelift?

Many names have been given to the Mini Facelift procedure, including:

  • “The lunchtime lift”,
  • "The mini lift”
  • “S-lift”
  • And more

A Mini Facelift refers to a procedure that corrects the jowls and neck in individuals that do not display significant effects of aging in these areas.

The procedure will provide the patient with a more refined jaw line, while also contouring the neck to a smoother and slender appearance. This technique generally enhances these facial areas with less risk and less stress than a standard facelift.

Recovery time is also reduced, allowing those with busy schedules to heal in less time compared to the standard facelift.

Additionally, the cost of the Mini Facelift is less than the traditional procedure making it an attractive option for those looking to reduce minor sagging around the:

  • Cheeks
  • Jaw line
  • Neck

Another benefit to a Mini Facelift is that it can be performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation, as opposed to general anesthesia.  Patients who are considering a Mini Facelift in Philadelphia may also consider a Mid Facelift and Revision Facelift.

Mini Facelift Procedure Facts

The surgical goal is to correct the early signs of facial aging including minor sagging of the cheeks, jowling, and minor excess neck fat and skin.

The Procedure

The procedure is performed through carefully placed incisions, allowing the incisions to be well camouflaged. Sagging deep facial structures and skin are tightened. Sagging neck skin and fat are contoured allowing for a more youthful appearance. The procedure is performed under sedation anesthesia or general anesthesia depending on the case.

Length of Time

The procedure lasts between 2-4 hours depending on the patient’s rejuvenation needs. Procedures such as Blepharoplasty (Eye Tuck), Chemical Peel, Laser Skin Resurfacing, or Facial Fat Grafting may be added to complement the patient’s lift.

Recovery

Most patients can return to work in 7 days, although individual recovery periods vary from patient to patient. Patients are asked to refrain from physical exertion for a period of three weeks. Swelling and bruising usually resolve in 1-2 weeks. An elastic compression garment may be worn around the lower face and neck for approximately one week. Stiffness in the neck and some soreness are common. Although a prescription pain medication is prescribed, many patients report only using it for the first 24 hours, after which Tylenol or no pain medications are needed. (It should be noted that individual recovery time and pain thresholds may vary depending on the patient).

After the Procedure

After their mini facelift surgery in our Philadelphia office, all patients are sent home the day of surgery and are given a set of postoperative instructions to follow. The patient will follow up the next day in the office for a postoperative check, and again on the seventh postoperative day for removal of stitches.
